COMBAT CONTROLLER SPECIALIST

Some of the military’s most difficult missions are carried out by Combat Controller (CCT) who operates in remote, often hostile areas. Acting as a one-man attachment to other special forces teams, these highly specialized Airmen are trained in a wide range of skills, including scuba, parachuting and snowmobiling, as well as being FAA-certified air traffic controllers in order to establish air control and provide combat support on missions all over the globe.

As a Combat Controller Specialist you will provide Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance to assist, control and enable the application of manned and unmanned, lethal and non-lethal airpower in all geographic and environmental conditions across the full spectrum of military operations. As a Combat Controller you will be responsible for the following:
Performing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) in semi/non-permissive and combat environments.
Conducting reconnaissance and surveillance of potential assault zones and target areas
Planning, coordinating and conducting operations using advanced technologies to support reconnaissance and target identification
Recording and submitting site surveys of assault zones (drop, landing, and forward area arming refueling points (FAARP)) and other areas critical to aviation.
Evaluating and relaying status of airfields and assault zones to inbound aircraft and higher headquarters
Planning, organizing, supervising and establishing Air Traffic Control in the target area. initiates, coordinates, and issues ATC clearances, holding instructions, and advisories to maintain aircraft separation and enable safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of traffic under visual or conventional approach control flight rules.
Targeting and Controlling fires. Planning, coordinating and conducting fires to accomplish supported commander objectives.
Deploying into forward areas and forward operating locations by sea, air and land and conducting Advanced Force operations, and fire support operations in support of commanders objectives.

Your missions will take you to every corner of the world. You will deploy into forward operating locations by land, sea or air to participate in the full spectrum of military operations to include Air Expeditionary Force, Force projection, Direct Action, Counterterrorism, Counter Proliferation, Foreign Internal Defense, Humanitarian Assistance, Special Reconnaissance, Personnel Recovery, Non-Combatant Evacuation Operations, integrated Survey Program, Counter Drug, Unmanned Aerial Systems, operational Preparation of the Environment.

Upon completion of Basic Military Training, a 7 session training program, located at Lackland Air Force Base, applicable candidates will begin their pipeline consisting of:
40 Sessions of Initial Combat Controller Training, consisting of Special Warfare Assessment and Selection, Diving, Airborne Operations/Free Fall Courses, SERE, Air Traffic Control and Weapons/Demolitions Proficiency
24 sessions of Special Tactics Training focusing on Advanced Weapons and Demolitions training, all terrain vehicle operation and core skills instruction.
